8th Grade ELA - Class, assignment and information by the week
Welcome to 8th grade ELA.
Throughout the year, I will work to keep information about topics, assignments & expectations here.
We will be using www.membean.com for vocabulary. Students will be required to train 100 minutes weekly from Friday morning - Thursday morning ( by 6:30 am) and will be assessed each Thursday beginning with a 15 question quiz that will build to 100 question tests over the year.
Students will be required to complete an Article of the Week (AOW). Guidelines will be reviewed in class and attached here once we have completed one in class.
September 19, 2017 - Old Stone House Trip
8th grade students will be going to The Old Stone House in Granite Quarry on September 20 & 21st.
They will rotate through 6 different stations exploring the history & science connected to settling the house & living in that area in the 18th and 19th centuries.
On the day students do NOT go, but stay back at CGMS students need to complete the following:

- AoW - DACA - found in schoolboy
- THEME paragraph on “The Monkey’s Paw” - review Playposit on theme in schoolboy, then write the following paragraph.
- What is the THEME of “The Monkey’s Paw” Cite 2 evidences in the text that support that & EXPLAIN THE CONNECTION. ( So, we’re talking a paragraph here folks.)
- YOU CANNOT SAY THE THEME HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WISHES or BEING CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH /WANT FOR
- Read THROUGH page 29 in Forged By Fire.
